WHO WE ARE - PANTEX PROCUREMENT

Babcock & Wilcox Technical Services Pantex, LLC (B&W Pantex) is an independent company formed solely to manage the Pantex plant. The company draws from the operational excellence and experience of Babcock & Wilcox Technical Services Group, Inc., BWX Technologies, Honeywell and Bechtel National.

B&W Pantex is part of a business unit called Babcock & Wilcox Technical Services Group, Inc., which provides management, operational and technical services for government and industry customers including the Department of Energy and National Nuclear Security Administration.

Honeywell

Honeywell is a $24-billion diversified technology and manufacturing leader, serving customers worldwide. Honeywell has operated DOE’s Kansas City Plant for 50 years, providing innovative manufacturing management and technology solutions to the DOE. The Kansas City Plant manufactures electronic, mechanical, and engineered material components for national defense systems.

Bechtel National

Bechtel National currently is working at more than 12 major DOE facilities and laboratories throughout the U.S. BNI, the government contracting arm of Bechtel, has more than 13,000 personnel currently working on more than 75 active project sites in 36 states. For more than 100 years, Bechtel has provided engineering, construction, environmental management, technical and related services for a broad cross-section of U.S. government customers, including the DOE and Department of Defense.

B&W Pantex has several missions at Pantex. The company fabricates chemical high explosives, assembles nuclear weapons, performs maintenance and evaluation activities for nuclear weapons in the nation's stockpile, disassembles nuclear weapons retired from the stockpile and provides interim storage for plutonium pits from dismantled nuclear weapons.

B&W Pantex performs process development activities on high explosives in support of the country's national laboratories. B&W Pantex also provides security for the Plant, manages environment, safety, and health activities, and maintains emergency preparedness and radiological response capability for the Plant and surrounding communities.

B&W Pantex Procurement Department is authorized to place orders and enter into contractual agreements with suppliers of products and services required at the Pantex Plant. Our goal is to purchase quality products and services in a timely manner at a fair and reasonable price from capable and reliable suppliers who either have track records of successful performance or who can demonstrate a current superior ability to perform.

It is the objective of the Procurement Department that small, small disadvantaged, small women-owned, HUBZone small, veteran-owned small, service-disabled veteran-owned small business, and other socioeconomic businesses and/or individuals receive "maximum practicable opportunity" to supply commodities and services purchased by B&W Pantex.
